Laura Fawcett, DPT
Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy of Loudoun
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine with high honors. I then attended the University of Pittsburgh where I graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2009. While at the University of Pittsburgh my clinical experience focused on outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine to include general orthopedic and overuse injuries, post-operative patients, and patients suffering from low back and neck pain. I also participated in elective courses focused on the advanced treatment of lower extremity orthopedic injuries as well as treatment of the cervical and thoracic spine with mobilizations and therapeutic exercise.
I have been practicing for 3 years in an outpatient sports medicine setting. I enjoy attending continuing education courses focused on treatment of athletes and sports specific approaches as well as manual therapy skills. I am currently attending the Virginia Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Institute course series in pursuit of obtaining my Orthopedic Certified Specialist certification. I love what I do and enjoy working with all types of patients and all levels of athletes, from recreational to competitive, and enjoy helping them return to what they love to do. I also believe in treating not only the specific injury but the entire body to maximize function and recovery.
In my spare time I am an avid runner and have completed 3 half marathons, 2 marathons, and a sprint triathlon as well as several smaller races to include 5K, 10K, and even a Spartan Sprint Race. My current goal is to try and qualify for the Boston Marathon. I also enjoy playing indoor recreational soccer, cycling, swimming, yoga, and weight training. I am a big supporter of the importance of cross training to remain injury free.
