Trisha Fleshman, DPT
Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy of Fairfax
I am originally from Rochester, Minnesota. In 2003, I earned a degree in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth and moved on to earn a Doctorate Degree from Duke University in 2008. I have had the privilege of practicing physical therapy in North Carolina, Utah, and Virginia.
The combination of athleticism and medicine is what led me to pursue a career in physical therapy. I was a gymnast for 13 years and then went on to coach adolescent and high school gymnasts. I strongly believe that an active lifestyle is important throughout the lifespan.
I have experience treating in a variety of settings including acute care, pediatrics, home health, and orthopedics. It is my goal to pursue further education and specializations in the areas of orthopedics and manual therapy and plans to combine a love for pediatrics into my orthopedic career. Recently, I have been using the Graston technique and tools to treat soft tissue impairments, scar tissue release, and to increase localized bloodflow.
I am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as well as the Sports Section of the APTA. I have enjoyed attending the APTA’s annual Combined Sections Meetings in 2008 and 2009 for the purposes of continued education and up-to-date research and practice methods in the field of Physical Therapy.
