Katie Canyon, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Integrated Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy of Fairfax
I was born and raised in the Northern Virginia and grew up being an active kid. From playing sports through high school and spending many hours in PT from a variety of sports injuries, making a career out of helping people return from injury was an obvious choice. In May of 2009, I graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with a degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I fell in love with orthopedics working as a PT Tech for this very company for a few years.
I have recently returned to living here following 3 years of braving the tundra of upstate NY, at Ft. Drum. While living in Evans Mills, NY I worked in a nursing facility on short term rehab patients. Within a few months I realized this setting was not for me. Working with a more active population was what I truly wanted to do. I transitioned to an outpatient facility and mainly worked with the active duty military personnel which were not a population I had ever worked with before. Although it was something different for me, I took the challenge head-on and it turned out to be a great learning experience.
Following my husbands medical discharge from the United States Army, and the birth of my daughter, Chloe, we returned to Northern Virginia. I currently work mainly out of our Fairfax office; however, I do occasionally make guest appearances in Lansdowne.
